Who's your favourite footballer?
|
Current or past.
Not necessarily your opinion on "the best".
Can be for their talent or just cos you liked them.
Doesn't have to have played for West Ham.
PAOLO DI CANIO for me. Genius on the pitch and showed proper heart every game.
Non-WHU player probably Ronaldo (fat one), might be a generational thing but watching him as a kid was unreal. That whole Brazil team from that era were insanely good
You lot?

Would say Maradona, always loved watching him play even when he did fuck us over in 1986, as for English Players perhaps Gazza at his best was one of this countrys best players ever.
Of those still playing, then C Ronaldo takes some beating, West Ham wise, then last season Lingard at times was sublime.

No surprise to see that Manuel worships a cheating, coke-head cunt.

To be fair, someone's favourite player isn't always the best player in the team. Trev's an absolute legend though no doubt

Absolutely, Sir Trevor. To be honest no other West Ham player even comes close. I find it a little odd that some put others from that era above him, but each his own. Can understand others that are older saying Bobby Moore.

I generally was a fan of the guys that were a little left of centre. So Di Canio certainly was one but another was Marlon Harewood.
I also have a soft spot for a player who has a head like a well smacked arse like my namesake and Le Tiss.

In the past: As a kid and before my first West Ham match I wanted to be Johnny Haynes when I realized I would never never have an ounce of his skill that's when Andy Malcolm became my role model.
50's Andy Malcolm and John Dick 60s Bobby Moore 70s Billy Bonds 80s Trevor Brooking (and present-day for off-field reasons) 90s Martin Allen 00s Paolo Di Canio 10s Scott Parker and Mark Noble and Dimitri Payet
Currently Vlad Coufal
As you can see I am both West Ham-centric and very fickle.

George Best, would be seen leaving Stringfellows at 2 am sat morning with Miss world on his arm, then at 3 pm sat afternoon he’d be at old trafford running rings around everyone............
Pretty amazing considering he was hammered a few hours earlier and was probably up all night shagging miss World.
Billy Bonds if you are talking West Ham.

Bobby Moore by a whisker from Trev and Bonzo. I've thought about this many times over the years and Bobby has to win because he's the reason I support WHU - it helps that he is clearly the greatest player we've ever had too.
It's even harder to pick non-WHU players. Can we have a team?
1. Banks 2. Haan 3. Maldini 4. Krol 5. Beckenbauer 6. Baresi 7. Best 8. Neeskens 9. Messi 10. Pele 11. Cubillas

For West Ham Cottee and Julian Dicks. Those that didn’t see Dicks play then he was fantastic. He lifted the crowd and team. Carrying the team forward and shooting from distance. Remember that? Shooting from distance.
Other player I’d have to say Ronaldo The Portuguese one.

For West Ham probably Payet and Berkovic. They just seemed to play the game at a different level to the others on the pitch.
Any football in any time then easily the Brazilian Ronaldo. Best player I’ve ever seen.
